I have made no secret here that I fully support the liberation groups in Syria courageously trying to overthrow both pro-Assad forces and Hezbollah. But according to this article in The Guardian, Islamic-fundamentalist groups are on the rise and they cannot be funded by outside groups when they have links to Al-Quaida and other terrorist-affiliated groups.

Arab Fundraising for Al Qaeda in Syria
An important article in the NYT reports that private funds are being gathered and transported to anti-Assad forces in Syria in the Arab world, and much of it goes to Al Quaeda linked revolutionaries.
It’s a good article for the contributing donors blame U.S. and Western doddering as a reason why the Saudis, Kuwaitis, etc., support the rebels with their fortunes.

Al Shabaab: On The Rise
A very good article in The Guardian on Al Shabaab, the Al Quaida affiliated group who has claimed to have been behind to recent attack on civilians in a Kenyan mall.
The article provides a good bio for the group and points to the fact that once thought to be in it’s last days, the terrorist organization seems to be alive not just in Somalia but across the Eastern African region.

NSA, CIA, and Targeted Killings
A must-read in The Post on how, “…a collection of records in the Snowden trove that make clear that the drone campaign — often depicted as the CIA’s exclusive domain — relies heavily on the NSA’s ability to vacuum up enormous quantities of e-mail, phone calls and other fragments of signals intelligence, or SIGINT.”
